On April 14 and 15, 50 amateur actors will gather on stage to bring the Engineers to life, the first episode of Surmelin’s Bride. The adventure began in September, with a large participatory picnic organized in the gardens of the town hall of Le Breuil. Then, in October, theatre workshops began in Montmort-Lucy.
The Bride of Surmelin is a participatory theater soap opera, born from the meeting between Surmelin Valley, an association that represents the communes along the Surmelin River, from Montmort-Lucy to Mézy-Moulins, and an artistic company, The Devil in Paws, which over the years have made participatory theatre their main idea, what does that mean? That the show is built with and for the inhabitants of the territory in question; from writing texts, to representation, logistics, costume making and the bar’s menu.
